Auto-Value needs your own eBay and Anthropic keys entered in Settings. Double-check they're pasted in full with no extra spaces — that's the most common issue.

An API key is a personal password that lets an app talk to an outside service on your behalf — it's how that service knows the request is coming from you, not someone else, and (where the service charges for usage) who to bill for it. Auto-Value doesn't run on our servers — it asks two outside services to do the work, using keys you get yourself and enter in Settings. That's what keeps CollectiblesVault free of subscriptions and accounts: no backend of ours sits in the middle, so there's nothing recurring to charge you for.
Used to identify what's in your photo — the actual AI vision call that names the item. Without it, Auto-Value can't run at all. Get one at platform.claude.com — Anthropic charges a small pay-as-you-go rate per call, billed directly by them, not us.
Used to look up real, current eBay listing prices for whatever the AI identified, and to power Barcode Scan (matching a scanned code straight to eBay's catalog). Without it, Auto-Value can't run at all. When eBay has no listing for an item, Auto-Value falls back to a rough estimate from Claude's own knowledge instead, clearly labeled as such and never counted as a live eBay match. Get both free at developer.ebay.com.
Not required for anything else — you can add items, set prices, and track your whole collection with no keys at all; both keys together only unlock the AI-powered photo lookup. Your keys are stored only in your device's Keychain and sent straight to Anthropic and eBay to make those specific requests — never through us, never anywhere else.
